Small Sculpture

Invention of imagery is the essential tool in our transformation from the animal to the human. Through abstractions of the real world, we impose our imagination to plan, build, explore, and invent, changing our experiences and ourselves. Through the medium of symbols, we experience the world outside ourselves. With increased use, symbolic representation has become accepted as commonplace, but its side effect is personal and collective. An abstraction of color and form, animated by light, became the basis of my symbolism.

Personal style has two time frames. In the present, it is a lifestyle characterized by rapid change—the fad that passes—today’s superstars. It is the popular culture of our children’s time. The second frame is our legacy of innovative achievement—discoveries that enlarge, describe, and map the human path. It is charted with genius and good fortune. It is the path of civilization.
